Summer Garibaldi Neve Traverse
Types: Alpine, Hikes & Treks, Summer
Region: British Columbia
The summer Garibaldi Neve traverse offers an amazing multi-day trek along ridges and glaciers with views that just don't end and not another person in sight!
Summer Garibaldi Neve Traverse
The Summer Garibaldi Traverse explores the beautiful icefield hidden behind Mt. Garibaldi.
The Summer Garibaldi traverse is the summer trekking version of the popular ski traverse. Mount Garibaldi (known as Nch'kaý or "the dirty one" to the indigenous Squamish people) is a dormant stratovolcano that towers above Squamish, BC at an elevation of 2,678 metres (8,786 feet). The northern and eastern flanks of Mount Garibaldi are obscured by the Garibaldi Névé, a large snowfield containing several radiating glaciers. Our route will traverse around this beautiful peak starting on the southern flanks, wrapping around past the Opal Cone (a small volcanic cone from which a lengthy lava flow descends), across the Neve (a glaciated zone on the east and north sides of the peak) and finally down Brohm Ridge to our waiting vehicle.
Trip Outline:
While we offer a few different trip options for the Summer Garibaldi Traverse the most common summer variation is the 4 day hike. This trip involves backcountry camping, some glacier travel and large packs and includes ACMG Certified guide. Some optional extras include:
- Camping equipment rentals
- A porter to lighten the packs and help around camp
- A shuttle vehicle to pick you up at the end of the trip and take you back to your car
- A helicopter flight off Brohm Ridge at the end of the traverse to save on the vehicle shuttle, a bunch of kilometers of road walking and because it's just fun!
Prices vary by group size and options/duration, just let us know how many people you have and we'll set-up your trip! The costs for the standard 4-day trip are:
4-Day Trip:
- 1 trekker: $2,949
- 2 trekkers: $1499 each
- 3 trekkers: $1049 each
- 4-6 trekkers: $799 each
Optional Extras:
- Let us supply the food: $300/person
- Save the walk down the gravel road at the end of the trip with a helicopter pick-up on the ridge: *$300/person
- Don’t have a 4x4? We can pick you up at the end of the traverse for $350
- Want lighter packs? We can supply a porter at a cost of $2000/trip
* This price requires a minimum of 2 people and depends on helicopter availability so it’s better to book it early.
