Mt Robson
Types: 10 Tallest Project, Alpine, Climbing and Mountaineering, Expeditions, Summer
Region: Canadian Rockies
As part of our 10 Tallest Project, we’re going to visit Mt. Robson a few times over the next few years. As the highest point in the Canadian Rockies it ranks #4 on the highest points in BC but is definitely one of the more challenging peaks on the list.
Mt Robson
The mighty Mt Robson is the king of the Canadian Rockies and one of Canada's most beautiful and highly sought-after peaks. The 12,972 foot summit of rock and snow towers above the parking lot like no other mountain in Canada. Mt Robson is also one of Canada's more challenging peaks. As a result it sees, at most, just a few summits every year. And like the great mountains of the world, Mt. Robson makes its own weather and poses significant challenges to even the most experienced mountaineer. Of course that just adds to the mystique of the mountain and the thrill of the summit.
As one of the most stunningly beautiful mountainous areas in Canada, Mt. Robson Provincial Park and it's namesake peak can rival even the Himalayan giants when it comes to rugged beauty. Truly a must-do summit.
We love running trips into Mt. Robson so if it's on your list be sure to let us know! We have a few different types of Robson trips from 3 days to 7 days, both with and without helicopter support/access. Of course trail closures and limited access to helicopters in the past few years have made it a bit harder to access and this year won't be any different with the Berg lake trail closed at Kinney Lake. Of course the route can still be done using the Patterson Spur approach.
The Ten Tallest Project:
What is the 10 Tallest Project? It's a goal we have of being the first to Climb or Ski the 10 highest peaks in BC. Some are easy to reach and not overly technical while others are quite involved and seldom climbed. But each and every peak is worthy! The plan is to offer trips on a few of these amazing peaks every year until we’ve done them all! For more information on the 10 Tallest Project can be found here.

As you know, outdoor activities involve numerous hazards including, but not limited to, avalanches, crevasses, rockfall, slips and falls, equipment failure, poor weather, etc. And while we do our best to anticipate and mitigate these hazards we cannot completely eliminate them.
