Mount Tricouni Alpine Climb

The north ridge of Mount Tricouni is a truly classic West Coast alpine climb: amazing views, great rock, interesting climbing and it's all doable in a day from Squamish! One of the top-ten alpine climbs in the Sea-to-Sky, it's a must do!

The route is approached via a 4x4 forestry road followed by about 2 hours of hiking. The first hour takes you up into the alpine and to the site of a absolutely beautiful lake. It takes another hour to wrap around the lake to a col on the east flank of Tricouni. From there it's a descent down a glacier on the north side to the start of the iconic North Ridge. From there a striking exposed rock ridge with difficulties up to 5.4 lead to an airy summit overlooking both the Squamish and Whistler Valleys. A scramble down the other side of the peak and you're back at the lake and the trail back to the truck.

Waiver & Risk Management:

As you know, outdoor activities involve numerous hazards including, but not limited to, avalanches, crevasses, rockfall, slips and falls, equipment failure, poor weather, etc. And while we do our best to anticipate and mitigate these hazards we cannot completely eliminate them. So, as with anything fun, you will be required to sign our Participant Release to take part in one of our courses or trips.

  • 6:30am: Meet in Squamish (or Whistler)
    • Review gear over a cup of coffee.
  • 7:30am: Drive out to the trailhead to start the climb
  • Back at the truck at around 5pm
