Whistler Backcountry Ski Touring

For our weekly Whistler backcountry Ski Touring program we tackle the local mountains around Whistler, BC for some amazing powder skiing. Often this means that we use the popular Whistler-Blackcomb resort to access Garibaldi Park and the simply amazing skiing located in the backcountry just off the ski hill. Other times it means that we head into the adjacent mountains like Rainbow for a true human powered adventure. It all depends where we think the best snow will be.

Whistler Ski TouringWhistler mountain has a ton of easily accessible ski touring that can be accessed right the ski lifts. It's a great zone for storm days as there's lots of open tree skiing in the sub-alpine glades with amazing terrain and powder!

Over on the Blackcomb side the Spearhead Range is much higher and offers a wide variety of high alpine, glaciated skiing. Anything from steep faces and couloirs.

Across the valley in the Rainbow mountain area the snow is usually a little deeper and there's all kinds of options from open glades to big alpine slopes.

We run this trip every Saturday between January 15 and March 30. Of course we can often accommodate other days if that doesn't work for you though the sooner we know the better.
