Phantom Traverse

The Phantom Traverse is a beautiful mountaineering trip across some of the most beautiful and seldomly visited coastal terrain.

Phantom mountain, the namesake of this unique trip, hides in behind the Tantalus range. But unlike the Tantalus, the Phantom zone can go years without being visited by hikers or mountaineers. So, every second year we like to offer a mountaineering trip into this amazing alpine wonderland. The trip starts on Phantom peak and follows a series of ridges, glaciers and alpine lakes to end at the stunning Misery lake, high above Salmon Inlet.

The Trip:

The trip starts with a heli drop on the shoulder of  Phantom Mountain, hidden in behind the Tantalus Park. From there we would have either 3 days of hiking, scrambling and mountaineering a long series of ridges and glaciers following the height of land. Each night would find us camping on a different alpine lake enjoying the stunning views, each day would find us traversing some amazing white granite, scrambling up peaks, rappelling back down, traversing glaciers and having a great time! Then, at the final camp we would have a cache with some fresh food and cold beverages to enjoy before sleeping under the starts one last time. The next morning, after some fresh coffee, we would catch a helicopter ride back to Squamish for brunch.

There is also an optional extra day where we could push the traverse farther along the ridge to Ramona lake, above Sechelt inlet. This lake is one of the most beautiful on the coast, an absolute gem that seldom gets visited because of how remote it is.
