Whistler Backpacking Hut Trip - 3 Day
The Whistler Backpacking Hut trip has it all: A gondola ride up to the ridge for an amazing high alpine walk to a stay at a beautiful backcountry hut with light packs and even a glacier walk for those interested. The travel route is circular using the musical bumps area to get to the hut and the singing pass trail to get out and so there's always something new to see.
Your highly trained and certified local guide will take care of everything on your guided Whistler backpacking hut trip, so all you need is to show up with a smile and a pair of shoes. We provide the camping gear, reserve the hut, take care of all the food and the lift passes. While the top of the Gondola is a busy area this trip soon escapes all the crowds and get's you into the backcountry to see some of the most beautiful terrain that the area has to offer.
Trip Outline:
This 3-day Whistler backpacking hut trip starts right in Whistler where we grab a Gondola up to the Roundhouse, way up in the alpine. From there we follow the Musical Bumps trail, one of the most beautiful hikes in Whistler. It travels along the top of a ridge, passing Harmony Lake, Symphony Lake, Piccolo Summit, Flute Summit, and Oboe Summit... see why it’s called the Musical Bumps Trail? Once we get past Oboe we join up with the Singing Pass trail and follow that up to a stunning alpine hut for dinner and one of the most beautiful sunsets around. There's even some power at the hut for charging your devices and a little cell service in the right locations.
The next day, after a hearty breakfast, we will drop below the hut to Russet Lake. Then below that to the toe of the Overlord Glacier where there's often a tarn (small glacial lake) and sometimes an ice cave to explore a bit. After a nice lunch there's an opportunity for people to get a guided walk on the glacial ice before we hike back up to Russet lake for a quick swim if it's hot. After that a quick walk has us back at the hut to relax before dinner.
On the final day, after an amazing breakfast, we load up our packs and start down the Singing Pass trail. This trail is primarily downhill as it winds its way down the Fitsimmons creek drainage and back into the town of Whistler.
