West Coast Ski Touring Basecamp
Types: Ski and Snowboarding, Ski Mountaineering, Touring
Region: Sea to Sky
Imagine landing in a beautiful winter camp located in a remote backcountry destination at the edge of the treeline. You're far from the crowds and the noise of civilization, yet still have the luxuries you've come to expect after a long day of powder turns—like a wood-fired sauna and incredible food.
West Coast Ski Touring Basecamp
In Spring 2027, we are setting up camp in a seldom-visited area of the Coast Range for a series of exclusive 5-day backcountry ski and snowboard trips.
Location:
The south coast of British Columbia is renowned for its deep, stable snowpack, stunning mountains, and world-class ski terrain. This camp delivers all of that and more. While the exact location remains a secret for now, we can share that it is situated in the Sea to Sky region at the edge of the treeline, nestled beside a small subalpine lake.
The terrain surrounding the camp is incredibly diverse, featuring several sheltered tree runs for storm days, five distinct alpine bowls, and four glaciers. Simply put, there is more skiable terrain than your legs can tackle in a single trip.
What to Expect:

Day 1: Arrival & Transition
We meet at the Squamish Airport at 7:00 am to organize gear and prep for the flight into camp. Once we arrive at camp, you’ll be assigned your tent and settled in. We’ll conduct a comprehensive companion rescue training refresher to ensure everyone is dialed and ready and then head out for our first turns of the trip.
Days 2–4: Into the Deep
With three full days we spend this time exploring the vast terrain surrounding the camp. From glacier crossings to sheltered glades, we’ll be out finding the best lines the Coast Range has to offer. Evenings are dedicated to recharging, enjoying the sauna, great food, and the company of your fellow skiers and boarders.
Day 5: Departure
After a final camp breakfast, we’ll pack our gear and get ready to go. If there's time for a quick run before the heli arrives we'll go for it. The plan will be to get back to the Squamish airport by noon with plenty of time to head home and start planning the next trip!
Accommodation:
- Everyone will get their own 3-person tent that will act as their bedroom. It will come set-up and complete with a winter rated sleeping pad so it's ready to go. You just need to bring a sleeping bag (or we can arrange one for you).
Food:
- Our amazing Squamish caterer will prepare a gourmet menu of delicious, high-quality dishes that bring the luxury of a restaurant to our remote winter camp. The food is designed to be as memorable as the skiing, ensuring you are exceptionally well-fed after every long day of powder turns. You’ll also find a well-stocked cook tent full of great snacks to keep you fueled whenever you get hungry.
- Special dietary requirements can be accommodated with notice though there may be a small surcharge depending on complexity.
Guiding:
- Each trip will include two (2) ACMG certified guides as well as a practicum.
- There will be a maximum of a 6:1 client to guide ratio maintained
- Having two guides allows for two different groups on daily trips into the various ski areas around the camp with options for shorter and longer days.
Amenities:
- Toilet: Two outhouse style portable toilet will be prepared and maintained at camp.
- Shower: A portable shower with a propane hot water on-demand system will be set-up at camp for use by all attendees.
- Dry Tent: A large wall tent with drying racks and a small heater will be set-up for hanging any wet equipment.
- Communal Tent: A large communal tent will be at the center of basecamp and used for eating meals, socializing and hanging out. The tent will be illuminated and have speakers, there will be power for anyone needing to charge personal devices, etc.
- Sauna: A 6-person sauna will be set-up next to a small pond for cold plunges to help rejuvenate the body and spirit. It will be hot every night so long as people are wanting to use it.
- Comms: Satellite internet will be available for a short period each night.
- Safety: A comprehensive first aid kit will be onsite and daily weather and avalanche hazard forecasts will be prepared by the guiding staff.
