South Coast Glaciers, Fall 2024:

For a second year we flew a bunch of the glaciers along the South Coast / Sea-to-Sky area this fall to get a feel for what they look like without a few meters of snow hiding all the crevasses. We were a little later this year in getting out for the flight and so you will see that there’s a bit of fresh snow on the ice. However, it’s not very deep and so is unlikely to be hiding any crevasses of note. The weather wasn’t great either with some high cloud making the light a bit flat but our good friend and photographer Hayden cranked up the contrast to help with that little issue.

All these photos are set up to be downloaded one at a time. We also packaged them by area in a series of pdf files that can be downloaded using the links below the series of photos. Please feel free to take them with you on your phone when you’re out skiing/riding or mountaineering.

Lastly, (Caution: Self-Serving Plug!) if you’re interested in getting out and exploring some of the amazing glaciated terrain that the coast has to offer but want a bit of training first we run a glacier travel and crevasse rescue courses every year: Black Sheep Adventure Glacier Course.

Here are some pdf files containing the above photos to make downloading and viewing at a later date a bit easier:
