About Harry Birt

Nationality British/Canadian
Languages Spoken English
Qualifications
ACMG Apprentice Rock Guide
CAA Avalanche Practitioner

Many moons ago Harry left the foggy hills and jagged sea cliffs of South West England to search for bigger, snowier peaks to climb and ski. He came to Canada and ever since has been on a strict diet of rock climbing, alpine climbing and skiing. He has worked as a guide, ski patroller and avalanche forecaster. Keen on all disciplines, from big walls to bouldering to ice climbing, he has a broad skill set and a passion for teaching. He knows a thing or two about sheep too, not that a degree in agriculture comes in handy often when you’re on the side of a mountain!

In the summer, Squamish is his home and he is usually found somewhere on the Chief or at the many crags around town. In the winter, he migrates inland to Golden, BC to make the most of the fluffy snow and brittle ice of the interior mountains. He’s been on expeditions all over North America, to places such as The Cirque of the Unclimbables, Denali and Yosemite.
